I’m not the only one who wonders about the fate of our Canadian high-tech Blackberry. It sounds like they finally found where to focus their efforts. The Wired article “BlackBerry Just Had Its First Good Idea in Years“,  points to a recent acquisition of a health care platform. They realized that they best cater to highly regulated industries to leverage their strengths: “healthcare, financial services, and even governments”.

Sure they chose niche vs diversification, segmentation vs mass market. The value proposition is secured communication platforms, the customers are regulated industry leaders. All that is great news. But here’s the question I’m left with. What’s the rest of the business model? And what will make it viable? sustainable?
